So, my jaw surgery was tentatively scheduled for July 28th...which was the first available date they had when I went in APRIL ha ha, busy people I guess. But THEN my insurance decided to deny me coverage (super!) and i had to get two teeth removed. We were going to remove my back molars during the surgery, but my Orthodontist recommended I get my smaller teeth (bicuspids) removed because the life of the molars would be much longer, which I completely agree with, and I definately would miss them! The surgeon said that my cases is unlike anything he's ever seen before, because usually when you move the bottom jaw forward, the top teeth rest on the back ones... but NO I have to be all screwed up and they (the molars) were hitting my GUMS... hence the removal! But, the spaces are closing and we are awaiting to hear from my father's job to see if he was approved for the loan for my surgery. Then, hopefully I will meet with the surgeon in november to see if I can have an appointment in December.... lets cross our fingers! All I want is this surgery to be done with, because to be honest I do not mine waiting to get the braces off, just waiting for the surgery is what kills me!

So, I went to the Ortho yesterday and he says that my bite isn't perfect,
but that I am ready for surgery! They gave me my molds to bring to the
surgeon tomorrow, wrapper in foam and bubble wrap (haha), and then we will
go from there. I'm super excited because tomorrow I go to get my third
tattoo with my mom after I talk to the surgeon, and everything should go
really well. It was wierd because today someone was showing me a tattoo
they got from the place that I go, and they said they would never go back,
which is somewhat nerveracking, but it seems to be the same artist that is
screwing up, and I don't think my mother and I have that person... thank
freaking goodness because it's not like you can just rub those suckers
off! Anyway, I'm excited, except for right now I feel sickness coming on.
I'm all stuffed up and body just ACHES. but tomorrow I should be making my
appt for surgery and it feels so good to finally make it to this point.
I'll post on Thursday with how the reevaluation goes!

So, I figure i'm going to start using this blog to document my surgery, which will hopefully be happening at the end of May 2009. I've got a lot going on in my life right now, with a new house and an intense semester at school, but hopefully it will all settle down so I won't have such a high stress level around my surgery date. I'll add more to my story later, but right now here's some pics (sorry about my morning loveliness, i've been doing school work all morning) and I'll post next week after my adjustment and consult with the surgeon!

So, the other day I spent a ridiculous amount of time on the phone with the dental insurance company trying to figure out why I suddenly wasn't covered any more for braces. It seems that as soon as I put down 3700, they changed the cut off year and now I've got to come up with the 2 grand left! But my parents tell me not to worry. I then had to attempt to extract information from a surgeon, because not only am i getting braces, but getting a surgery to 'advance my mandible'. Basically, they break your jaw from the inside, move it foward, and put screws in it so that your teeth get fixed. oh yay. Oddly enough, no one from the ortho to to the surgeon's secretary knows how much this surgery is! SO i won't find out until March 5th, when my consultation is. Until then, i guess i will try to concentrate on school and my wonderful new tattoo that stings just a little bit........

So, I finally went to get my second tattoo done last night, and I have to say... It's BEAUTIFUL. the artist did an amazing job at capturing my vision, and now I have a wonderful reminder of the home I miss so much. I will post a picture as soon as possible, it's on my shoulder, so taking pictures by myself is difficult :)

First Day of classes at Suny today, very nice. I only had two but I still got there early and for good parking at tried to finish up some casual reading, because we all know once class starts casual reading becomes a little bit difficult. Speaking of difficult, that's what Steve was this morning, although I tried to make it easier for him, but he can be so cranky in the morning! Just like a kid, oh well... I also got my molds done at the Orthodontist today, so I'm one step closer to getting what my mother calls a "full metal jacket" (aka braces). But in the end my smile will be beautiful and all will be well. Signing off for now. Adios
